We are a month removed from our first ever Real Food Rally. We fed and supplied over 75 Food Desert households in the Englewood, Chicago area with real local pasture-raised chicken and eggs. I can’t thank you enough for partnering with us to make this happen.
I struggle to not keep moving on the next thing, but Nicole (our secretary) always tells me to reflect and sit with what has been accomplished.
The energy and vibes in the air at the Rally were second to none. I could not be more proud of all the volunteers that showed up to help. We had more hands available to help than we knew what to do with! Thank you.
There was music, smiles, pictures, dancing, but most importantly a spark of hope was ignited.

The goal of this event was to raise awareness, feed families, and collect data.
Collecting data like distance from nearest grocery store, and if they have barriers to groceries like cost or transportation helps to inform how best to serve these food desert communities.
While running around during the event, I couldn’t escape the thought that there is a desperate need for a sustainable solution. I hated the idea that we’d be there for that day and gone on another. The food will be there, and then it will be gone when they run out and everything goes back to normal. This, in no way shape or form, takes away from the fantasticness of the impact made. But I just wanted to give you a peak into my mind as I steer this ship.
This is a continued conversation from the last newsletter. Forgive me for being so future focused, what we do is good! I want GOOD TO STAY.
I’ve been in constant communication with local farms, workshopping ways that we can construct a bridge that sustains both the farmer and the most vulnerable communities among us. Your contribution is helping build that bridge, one brick at a time- thank you so much.
